Nature's Classroom - Day 2

Greetings from Nature's Classroom!

Last night the children participated in a team building activity called "Quest" and enjoyed a bonfire where they toasted marshmallows and made s'mores.   We also participated in a sing-a-long! It was a beautiful evening.
Bedtime was quite a challenge for the boys and girls. It was almost midnight before most of the children finally fell asleep, but they were wide awake at 5am!  Needless to say, we will ALL be exhausted when we return home.
As I write this blog, the field groups are out exploring the woods and preparing for tonight's "Oregon Trail" simulation.  The children are super excited about everything, including the meals. This morning's fare was waffle sticks and sausage.  YUMMY!
I am attaching photos of the children enjoying Nature's Classroom.  Enjoy

Greetings from Nature's Classroom in Becket, MA!
We had a very successful entry into the world of Nature's Classroom.  The bus ride was uneventful, fortunately!  The children enjoyed "getting-to-know-you" games upon their arrival and moved into their cabins.  After a lunch of hot dogs, baked mac & cheese and salad bar, the children took a short hike with their field groups and selected their afternoon classes.  Right now they are experiencing their first class.  Some of the classes include, dam building, making shelters in the woods, orienteering and stomp rockets.  As you might imagine, they are very excited.  Tonight's evening activity will be Quest; a team-building activity.  So far the experience has been perfect.  I will touch base with you all again tomorrow...here are a few bus photos.  Take care, Lester B. and class

Middle School Visit

Greetings from Room 10!

First of all, I would like to extend my sincere thanks for the thoughtful stars and gifts that were waiting in our room upon our return from the Middle School.  In addition to two pairs of "musical" socks, I was honored to receive a star with kind words written on them from each of our 24 students! Also, thank you for all the fruit and veggies the children brought me throughout the week.  All I can say is, "WOW!"
Our Middle School visit went very well.  Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Principal Doemel and a video introducing the 5th graders to the BCMS 6th grade teachers.  It was followed by a tour of the middle school building and lunch.  The afternoon was spent attending four classes:  Earth Science, World Language, Computer Lit and Social Studies. We ended our visit with a performance by the 6th grade band.
We leave promptly at 8:30am on Wednesday morning. Luggage drivers should pull up in front of the building so we can load the children's luggage. Everyone else should park in the lot and walk to the front of the school.
Enjoy the photos I took during our visit.                               Take care, Lester Betor & Class
